Understanding US Import Duties for UTIL Orders

If you’re in the United States and considering ordering UTIL products, here’s what you need to know about customs duties, exemptions, and potential fees when importing our aluminium goods.

Orders up to $800 are exempt until August 29th

All orders valued under 800 USD, shipped from countries like Portugal, are exempt from customs duties when entering the US (Section 321).
That means if you make a UTIL purchase for a product with a 5-day availability, you won’t have to pay import duties or additional clearance fees.
Beginning August 29th, the $800 exemption no longer applies - all orders may incur the charges mentioned below.

What if my order is over $800?

In this case, a 50% tariff applies to the aluminium portion of the product, not the full order value (Section 232). UTIL includes a clear breakdown of material content (approximately 20%) in every invoice, helping customs calculate duties fairly.

US customs may also apply import taxes, customs clearance fees, or even local state taxes.
The amount due depends on the product type, declared value, and destination state.
Although our products, such as home metal furniture, are often not subject to base tariffs, brokers (like DHL or UPS) can add extra costs that increase the total.
These additional costs are unpredictable from our side and beyond our control.

Quick Summary

Orders up to $800 → No duties, no tariffs, no extra fees - thanks to Section 321.
Includes full exemption from the 50% aluminium tariff (see below).

Orders over $800 → The 50% aluminium tariff (Section 232) applies to content value + standard customs fees.
Example: A $1,000 product with an approximate 20% aluminium value may incur $100 in tariffs + brokerage/state taxes.
