UTIL develops furniture for storing, organising, and displaying belongings. The collection grows slowly — each design has to solve a modern problem and last a lifetime.

Everything begins with curiosity about how people live, what they keep, and what needs sorting out. A dead corner, recurring clutter, a frequently lost object. Small things. Worth fixing.

Every product uses the minimum amount of metal. Not as a constraint, as a principle. The group of designers stays small, each fluent in clarity and material economy. The furniture is light, straightforward, and made to be used.

Everything is produced in Portugal, close enough to visit. We work directly with the manufacturers — the people who know the machines, the materials, and the process. Most pieces are made to order. No excess, no waste.
